Bill Details

Repealing the law on weather modification experimentation.

Bill summary

Repeal of Weather Modification Experimentation This bill sought to remove the legal authority for state participation in weather modification. • Laws Introduced: It proposed the complete repeal of RSA 12-F, the existing statute that permitted state departments or agencies to engage in weather modification experimentation with the approval of the Governor and Council. • Enforcement: As this was a repeal of permission rather than a prohibition with penalties, no specific enforcement mechanisms were listed.

History

The bill was introduced on January 3, 2013, and referred to the Science, Technology and Energy Committee. It underwent several public hearings and work sessions, allowing committee members to discuss and propose amendments. However, after a committee vote in early February, the bill was deemed "inexpedient to legislate," meaning it was considered unnecessary or unpractical to move forward. This motion was adopted by the House on February 13, 2013, indicating that the bill has effectively failed and will not advance further in the legislative process.
